Cozumel

It is also known as the island of the swallows in the Mayan translation. It lies in the Caribbean Sea away from the eastern side of the Mexican coast of Yucatan Peninsula. The island of Cozumel has twelve major towns and villages each with a census population of no less than thirty people. The island was declared so in February 1998 and is also run by NGOs based in Isla Mujeres. The island’s natural beauty has seen its economy boosted with a specified number of tourists visiting the place to enjoy its aesthetic values.
