BP claims that Halliburton kept important information hidden which could have prevented the BP oil spill on April 20, 2010 and has filed suit against the company.  Halliburton was responsible for cementing the well, which blew out and caused the Gulf of Mexico BP oil spill.  BP is also seeking restitution from rig owner Transocean for the BP oil spill.

Without an exact figure for compensation sought from Halliburton, BP is looking to receive up to $42 billion for damages, with additional reimbursement for interest, legal costs from the thousands of oil
spill claims
being filed, and punitive damages resulting from the BP oil spill.

“Halliburton’s improper conduct, errors and omissions, including fraud and concealment, caused and/or contributed to the Deepwater Horizon incident,” BP claims in a court filing.

“Halliburton knew and understood it was misrepresenting material information,” BP also mentioned.
Exactly one year after the BP oil spill occurred which killed 11 men and caused countless others to struggle financially with thousands of oil spill claims and oil spill claim forms being filled out, the suit was filed against Halliburton and Transocean.
