Born in the year 1951 Andy Evans was around twelve when he saw his first Can-Am race. The race took place in the year 1963. The idea of becoming a race driver had taken firm root in his mind. The very idea of traveling at hundred miles per hour thrilled him. He had a passion not only for racing, but also race cars.
Andy Evans had a soft corner for Ferrari and was vocal about it. He did not follow the route taken by most race car drivers. Choosing to start by paying his dues, in the 1980s he raced as a hobby. Only when the bad times came did he consider racing professionally. He was able to join the International Motor Sports Association’s Camel GT Lights
class due to his dedication and focus. This took place in the year 1990. It was not long before he started racing on the legendary tracks found both in the United States and Europe.
In the year 1994 Andy started his own racing team by the name of Team Scandia. Top drivers of the day joined his team. His team soon began taking part in some highly competitive races. Team Scandia took the ‘12 Hours of Sebring’ in the year 1995. The driver who won the race drove a Ferrari. This kind of event has not taken place since the year 1972. Andy Evans was not the only person to cherish this win, Ferrari also cherished it. In order to show their appreciation Ferrari enabled him to directly buy the F 50. This was the only one to be sold directly as Ferrari was leasing the model at the time.
