If you are interested in permanently changing your eye color, then you have probably heard of the BrightOcular intraocular implant.  BrightOcular is the first United States invented cosmetic anterior chamber intraocular implant that can be used to alter the eye color of healthy individuals.  It can also be used to treat patients with medical conditions concerning the iris.

There have been other cosmetic intraocular implants that have tried to change the color of the eye in the past.  Those implants were not successful as they resulted in unusually high risks of ocular hypertension, glaucoma, which can lead to blindness if not treated.

How is BrightOcular different? Its patent-pending design was made to specifically correct issues seen from in other implants from different companies that can cause these harmful complications.  Since August of 2010, when BrightOcular was first implanted into patients, there have been no reports so far of any patients that have had increased pressure in the eyes, glaucoma, which can cause the deterioration in vision.  BrightOcular has a track record of success.

What makes BrightOcular work is its superior combination of high quality FDA-approved silicone and colorant materials along with its structure and design which is produced at the highest manufacturing standards (ISO 13485).  The material has been tested for biocompatibility using the proper implantation studies.  As far as design, the implant minimizes contact with the iris so as to reduce inflammatory responses and allow for proper flow of aqueous humor in the eye.  This means no build up of fluids in the eye, which thereby means no pressure buildup or other deleterious complications.

The BrightOcular procedure is very simple for any ophthalmic surgeon to perform that has experience with intraocular implants and the anterior chamber. Since this procedure is almost exactly equivalent to the technique used for cataract procedures, doctors are able to adapt very quickly and confidently.  When doctors are confident, patients feel much more comfortable in having this type of procedure done.  With good reason, more and more doctors around the world are performing this ground-breaking new procedure.
